The day continued after the big flight with a small family party for Sophie. Emily the little socialite that she is was at another friends party with Emily M, so Tasha stayed with us too which was lovely.
The kids all around for the birthday song and cake, all the kids had a turn at blowing out the candles.
Sophie being ever so careful with the knife, after Xavier nearly cut my leg when he grabbed the knife!
Xavier and Kody showing off their cake covered faces!
Tasha ever so photogenic after she had her cake, she really take a great picture every time.
Below Xavier is enjoying his cake earlier in the day then being a magpie as I fed him at tea time, the picture doesn't show how funny this really is to see!

Balloon flight over Bendigo
We rose very early Saturday morning for a special present for Sophie's birthday a balloon flight across Bendigo. Neither of the girls had any idea of what was happening, Em was first to switch onto what was happening when she saw the picture of the balloon in the vehicle's window that picked us up. Sophie looked absolutely stunned, think a few nerves may have set in for her. But they both went very well. It pretty cold on the ground but once we were up it was actually very warm.
We left from the Bendigo Show Grounds and landed in Emu Creek, about 2km the other side of Brady's Tavern. At one stage we were about 4300ft above sea level. The flight lasted about an hour or just over and we couldn't believe how well the pilot guided the basket through the trees when we were coming down to land, we could actually touch the branches on the side of the basket with our hands. When we were first choosing a paddock to land there was a very un-friendly bull in the paddock which was not happy we were thinking about landing in his paddock so we kept going over his paddock and into the next! We also say three Emu's and some Kangaroos when we were about to land.
After landing we all had to help with the packing up of the Balloon, it is amazing how small they actually pack the balloons up. After the flight we headed to The Boardwalk for Breakfast.
I think Emily actually enjoyed the flight the most.
This is the beginning of the setting up of the balloon .
The girls posing for a picture while the big anticipated wait until the balloon is ready for lift off!
Below Mick is holding the balloon with the other male passenger while it is being filled with air from a big fan .
The picture above is the inside of the balloon connected to the basket.

Safely landed and the beginning of the packing up. The blue trailer is what the whole thing fits into when packed up.
